Xiaomi Takes on Tech Accessories With Watch S1 Pro and Buds 4 Pro Launch at MWC 2023

Reading Time: 3 minutes

In addition to a new smartphone series, Xiaomi launched a brand new smartwatch, and revamped wireless Bluetooth earbuds at MWC 2023.

While the MWC tech exhibition focuses primarily on mobile tech, it’s also an ideal time for brands to showcase their latest accessories. And that’s exactly what Xiaomi has done, with the unveiling of its new smartwatch and revamped truly wireless earbuds. Dubbed Watch S1 Pro and Buds 4 Pro, respectively, the brand is offering accessories that play nice with its newly announced smartphone line-up.

Here, we look at the stylish new Watch S1 Pro before it gets slapped on wrists, and see what’s new with the updated Buds 4 Pro.

Xiaomi Launches Stylish Watch S1 Pro

This new smartwatch faces off with a 1.47-inch, 480×480 resolution AMOLED display. It’s covered with sapphire crystal glass, for added protection. The bezels around the screen are pretty thin, before extending out to the silver case and brown leather strap. There’s a black version available as well that ships with a rubber band, for the sporty types.

Powering all of this is a battery that Xiaomi reckons will last two weeks between charges. The brand hasn’t made it clear exactly how big the battery inside the Watch S1 Pro is, so it’s hard to predict how accurate this is. Recharging takes just under an hour and a half, and you can juice up two days of use in just 10 minutes.

On the side of the watch’s body, you’ll find a rotating digital crown. This should be very familiar for anyone that’s used an Apple Watch before. There’s also a shortcut button for quickly starting workouts, though it’s not programmable like the one on the Apple Watch Ultra. This can track 100 different types of workouts, sports, and activities. There are even pre-programmed routines available.

Xiaomi’s Watch S1 Pro measures step count, heart rate, and SpO2. You can also use it to track your sleep, and GPS during activities. Aside from fitness tracking, you’ll find a built-in speaker, NFC support, and fast pairing with Xiaomi phones. It runs MIUI Watch OS, and is available from the brand now.

Xiaomi Also Reveals Revamped Earbuds With Buds 4 Pro

It’s not just your wrist that gets the smart treatment, but your ears as well. Xiaomi released a revamped pair of truly wireless earbuds dubbed the Buds 4 Pro.

These premium in-ear buds arrive packing active noise cancellation, cutting out the distraction sounds from your environment. Accompanying this is a transparency mode, which lets you tune back into the real world. You’ll also find spatial audio on these new buds, which uses head tracking tech to provide direction to your soundscape. Both of these features are controllable through Xiaomi’s companion app.

Xiaomi’s Buds 4 Pro support LDAC Bluetooth for high-resolution listening. It’s not quite the same as dedicated hi-fi equipment, but should sound better than standard Bluetooth earbuds. The buds also offer a fit monitoring feature, which can detect how well the buds seal in your ear. A better seal results in better noise cancellation, so it’s a stat you’d be best to check.

You don’t have to worry about listening time, with the Buds 4 Pro. Xiaomi reckons the in-ears can last for nine hours, which goes up to a total of 38 hours when you consider the charging case. Said charging case also supports wireless charging, for even easier battery top-ups. The Buds 4 Pro are available from Xiaomi as of February 26 from €249, in either black or gold.

Accessories Aren’t Left Behind at MWC 2023

Despite a big focus on smartphones, tech accessories aren’t being left behind at MWC 2023. Xiaomi’s latest slate of companion devices plug and play perfectly with its new 13 Series smartphone range. Or any other Android smartphone, for that matter.

There are bound to be more accessories unveiled at MWC 2023, amongst all the smartphone craziness. We expect plenty more brands to show off their latest and greatest at the event.
