Reading Time: 4 minutes

Check out which gaming headset is the best to buy in a store.

VR gaming has gone to the next level thanks to brands like the Oculus VR headset, currently known as the Meta VR headset, and the PlayStation VR.

Many people are confused about what headset they should use. Because those who use game consoles and gaming PCs usually don't know what VR brand will be compatible with their platforms for gaming. Today we will be reviewing headsets that are best compatible with our gaming platforms.

1. The Meta Quest 2

The Meta Quest 2, previously known as the Oculus Quest 2, is a bit similar to the Oculus Go, but it is better than the Oculus Go with a clearer screen, a better processor, and a design that makes it less heavy. To be precise, it is 10% lighter than the Oculus Go. It has a starting price of $399.99, making it less expensive compared to other VR headset brands like the HTC Vive Cosmos, which costs $699, and the Valve Index, which costs $999.

Now let's check out the specs.

The Meta Quest 2 uses a Qualcomm Snapdragon XR2 processor. The Meta Quest 2 has 6 GB of RAM. The Meta Quest 2 has 64GB and 256GB of storage. The Meta Quest 2 has a resolution of 1832 x 1920 per eye. The Meta Quest 2 has a 120 Hz refresh rate. Speakers are located on the sides of the headset.

You can also connect the Meta Quest 2 to a gaming PC with an Oculus Link cable, which costs £89. Just be sure that your laptop has a USB-C port; if yes, then you have access to all VR games. It can even play Oculus Rift and HTC Vive games.

Advantages

• It is easy to set up and use.

• It has a nice, upgraded screen resolution.

• It grants you wireless freedom.

Disadvantages

• When it comes to battery life, it can last only 2–3 hours.

• It needs a Facebook sign-in.

2. HTC Vive Cosmos Elite

Specs

It has a refresh rate of 90 Hz. It uses an NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 970 4GB, AMD RadeonTM R9 290 4GB equivalent, or better VR Ready graphics card. It uses an Intel® CoreTM i5-4590 or AMD FXTM 8350 equivalent processor. It has 4 GB of RAM. It consists of buttons like a multifunction trackpad, grip buttons, a dual-stage trigger, a system button, and a menu button. It uses the Windows 10 and Windows 11 operating systems. It has sensors like the G-sensor, gyroscope, and eye comfort setting (IPD).

Apart from excellent build quality and one of the best screens available, it is also very light. Even when it's not very portable, it's still liked by a lot of people. It's quite expensive and requires a lot of space if you want to use it to its fullest. It's very versatile and comfortable; there are only a few better options available.

It can run games perfectly, especially games like Superhot and Half-Life: Alyx. The HTC Vive Cosmos Elite can also be used for workouts and virtual cinema.

Some people would prefer the Meta Quest 2 because of how cheap and portable it is. In terms of power, the Meta Quest 2 is less powerful than the HTC Vive Cosmos Elite. You need a very powerful and fully setup gaming PC to be able to handle such a device.

With this device, you have restricted movement because it is wired.

It costs $749. It costs almost twice as much as Meta Quest 2.

Advantages

• It is modular.
• It has a high resolution.

It will cost $549.99, €599.99, £529.99, or AU$858.

There are some speculative rumours, like an OLED display that boasts a total resolution of 4000 x 2040 pixels, that’s 2000 x 2040 per eye, slightly better than the Quest 2. It also has a 4K resolution, HDR, a 110-degree field of view, foveated rendering, and frame rates of 90 to 120 Hz.

It also has cool sensory features like eye tracking, motion sensing (three-axis gyroscope, three-axis accelerometer), headset feedback, 3D audio, and the PSVR 2 Sense controller to create a deeper feeling of immersion. The headset vibrates, and the lens separation is adjustable. It also has 4 cameras for headset and controller tracking and an IR camera for eye tracking per eye.

Advantages

•It worth the price.

•It can play great PS games.

It is very comfortable and still has a relevant design.

Disadvantages

• It has a dated unit with a newer version on the way.
