1. A New Line of Foldable Samsung Smartphones

The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip4 is another new model from Samsung that was unveiled in August 2022. It runs on Android 12 and comes with a 6.7-inch AMOLED foldable main display. It has a dual camera setup that includes a 12MP primary lens. The front camera has a 10MP sensor for video capture and selfies.

2. 2022 SEAL Business Sustainability Award
Samsung has been awarded the 2022 SEAL Business Sustainability Award for re-purposing ocean-bound plastic such as discarded fishing nets, into sturdy recycled material for its Galaxy line-ups.
The SEAL award is associated with acknowledging leadership towards the development of innovative and sustainable solutions in business, and is decided upon by a panel of expert authorities on environmental, social, and governance initiatives. This year’s award recognizes Samsung for its efforts to reduce plastic waste from its supply chain, and its commitment to creating a circular product design.
The company has been working with partners around the world to reduce plastic waste in its operations, and it’s made great strides in its efforts.
3. Enabled Tizen OS-Enabled Smart TV Manufacturing
Samsung signed up with leading Original Development Manufacturers such as Atmaca, Tempo, and HKC to collaborate on a new line of smart TVs that would use Tizen OS for the first time. 5. To Cough Up $14M Over Misleading ‘Water-Resistant’ Galaxy Adverts
Samsung’s penalty of 14 million Australian dollars for making false claims about its phones’ water resistance is a win for Australian consumers, who were misled by the company to believe that their devices could withstand submersion in pools, hot tubs, and ocean water.
The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) filed a lawsuit against Samsung in 2019 alleging that the company had made misleading claims about the water-resistant features of some of its Galaxy devices, despite knowing that substantial damage would occur when used in these environments.
Samsung later admitted that nine ads for seven devices promoted during 2016 to 2018 were misleading.
6. Faced Class Action Suit Over Security Breach
A class action lawsuit filed in a district court in Northern California claims Samsung knowingly failed to mitigate a security breach of personally identifiable information (PII) in its systems that occurred in July 2022.
After the first break-in by cyber-criminals Lapsus$ in February 2022, Samsung became aware of the security lapses but did not fix them. Its supposed negligence in this instance led directly to the second cyber-intrusion which led to 200 GB worth of data and personally identifiable information being stolen from Samsung’s US servers.
The lawsuit claims that even though Samsung knew about the risks of third-party hacking and mandated users to create an account, it failed to implement adequate safeguards to protect sensitive data or detect intrusions despite having access to high-level technical expertise.
7. ‘Performance Throttling’ Claims Likely to Be Investigated for Samsung’s S22
The South Korean Fair Trade Commission (FTC) is reportedly investigating Samsung over allegations that it’s throttling app performance on its Galaxy S22.
The Galaxy store lists the Game Optimizing Service as an app with features to improve system performance during gameplay. However, the service throttles speed to save battery life and prevent heat generation.
While your smartphone may have been designed to optimize performance to help preserve battery life, slowing down your apps could lead to serious performance issues—especially if you rely on heavy resource-intensive games or social media apps.
Those who have experienced problems with the performance of their Galaxy S22 might be entitled to compensation. Samsung is yet to take steps to rectify these issues.

Between their Galaxy line, their newly released foldable phones, and their line-up of tablets, the electronics giant is still making waves in the tech industry. Except for a few misses, the company has largely had a successful year.
