Samsung Announces the Galaxy Book3 Ultra for Those With Deep Pockets

While Samsung is mostly known for the Samsung Galaxy S-series smartphones, it offers other devices, like laptops, under the Galaxy name. So, during the 2023 Samsung Unpacked event, it launched its latest laptop line-up: the Samsung Galaxy Book3.

The Samsung Galaxy Book3 Ultra: An Ultralight Powerhouse
The Samsung Galaxy Book3 Ultra features some of the most powerful Intel Processors and NVIDIA GPUs you can put in a laptop. You can pick between an Intel Core i7-13700H or Intel Core i9-13900H chip to drive the notebook PC, giving you 14 threads to work with. And since the Galaxy Book3 Ultra uses Intel’s H-series chips, it offers much better performance when compared to Intel P-series or U-series chips.
The Samsung Galaxy Book3 also offers an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4050 or 4070 GPU, allowing you to enjoy AAA games and render videos quickly. It also drives a 120Hz 16-inch 16:10 3K (2880×1800) AMOLED display, giving you more vertical room to work with.
You also won’t fall short in storage and memory. It starts with 16GB RAM and a 512GB SSD, but you can spec it to have 32GB RAM and 1TB SSD, giving you more than enough to run many programs. It also has a microSD card reader, allowing you to transfer files quickly from other devices.
Ports and Portability
Although the Samsung Galaxy Book3 Ultra is a thin and light laptop, it still has a decent selection of ports. You get two USB-C Thunderbolt 4 ports, a USB-A 3.2 port, an HDMI 2.0 port, and a 3.5mm headphone out/microphone-in combo jack.
It also features Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.1, giving you fast wireless connectivity. Unfortunately, it doesn’t have an ethernet port, so you either have to rely solely on wireless internet, get a USB-C to ethernet adapter, or use one of the best USB-C docking stations.
Although the laptop is missing an RJ45 ethernet port, you get a clear advantage in size and weight. The Samsung Galaxy Book3 Ultra is only 0.65 inches thick and weighs less than four pounds, making it easy to carry around.
You also get a 76Wh battery and a 100W charger in the box. Samsung estimates that this battery can deliver up to 17.5 hours of use. Furthermore, the 100W charger should be fast enough to recharge the Galaxy Book3 Ultra quickly if you run out of juice.
The Samsung Ecosystem Advantage
Another reason you may want to get the Samsung Galaxy Book3 Ultra is its integration with other Samsung products. All Samsung Galaxy Book3 models will seamlessly integrate with other Samsung Galaxy devices like the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra and other Samsung Galaxy tablets.
This level of integration includes easily copying images from your Samsung Galaxy smartphone to the Galaxy Book3 laptop and even using a Galaxy tablet as a secondary wireless monitor. These are just some reasons why the Samsung UI is better than the stock Android experience.
Ultra Performance With an Ultra Price
You’ll have to pay a premium to get all this power in your hands. The Samsung Galaxy Book3 Ultra with the Intel Core i7 starts at $2,199.99. If you want the more powerful Intel Core i9 version, it starts at $600 more for a total starting price of $2,799.99.

Other Samsung Galaxy Book3 Models
If the more than $2,000 price tag of the Samsung Galaxy Book3 Ultra is beyond your league, you can still enjoy other Book3 models that offer the same Samsung ecosystem advantages as the Ultra.
These include the 16-inch Galaxy Book3 Pro 360, the 14-inch or 16-inch Galaxy Book3 Pro, and the 13.3-inch or 15.6-inch Galaxy Book3 360. These models all feature an Intel Core i7-1360P processor and integrated Intel Iris Xe graphics.
Their primary differences are their form factors (360 models are two-in-one touchscreen devices) and screen sizes (non-Pro models only get an FHD 16:9 display). But aside from that, the non-Ultra Book3 models are almost the same, ensuring you can get a Galaxy Book3 laptop within your budget.
The Galaxy Book3 360 starts at $1,299.99, while you can get the Galaxy Book3 Pro at $1,449.99. On the other hand, the Galaxy Book3 Pro 360 starts at $1,699.99
Is the Samsung Galaxy Book3 Ultra Worth Buying?
If you’re in the Samsung ecosystem and looking for a premium, sleek laptop, then it’s worth looking at the Book3 Ultra. Its specifications allow it to compete with the best of them, although we’ll have to wait for actual reviews to see how it performs in the real world.
Nevertheless, if you already have a recent Samsung S-series smartphone and a Samsung tablet, the Samsung Galaxy Book3 Ultra will fit right in your devices. It will allow you to make the most out of them, making your workflow more seamless.
Samsung Is Playing Apple’s Game
Apple has long been the king when it comes to ecosystems. The MacBook, iPad, and iPhone work seamlessly together; that’s why its customers typically have two or more Apple devices.
With the Galaxy Book3, Samsung is trying to get its fans onboard its ecosystem. And even if its smartphones and tablets are running Android and its laptop is running Windows, Samsung uses tools like Windows Phone Link and Galaxy Continuity to make the experience seamless.
