JLabs Launch Absolutely Tiny JBuds Mini Earbuds at CES 2023

Reading Time: 3 minutes

Plus the all-new premium Epic Lab Edition earbuds, which come with an excellent brushed metal case.

Looking for tiny earbuds to fit your small ears? JLab hears you loud and clear, and at CES 2023, it launched its new JBuds Mini true wireless earbuds. These tiny earbuds are designed with smaller ears in mind, though they still work just as well for folks with ‘regular’ sized ears.

Alongside the JBuds Mini, JLab also launched its new premium true wireless earbuds, the JLab Epic Lab Edition, featuring its first hybrid dual-driver and an excellent, brushed metal case.

JLab’s New JBuds Mini Are Tiny

Super compact earbuds aren’t entirely new to market. We’ve previously reviewed the similarly tiny 1More ComfoBuds Mini, the world’s smallest ANC earbuds. They’re very comfortable, but there aren’t many other earbuds focusing on smaller ears, so JLab’s JBuds Mini will be a welcome addition to this somewhat niche market.

The JBuds Mini is JLab’s smallest ever earbuds and is around 50 percent smaller than the JBuds Air. The carry case is smaller than a poker chip and comes with a handy keyring that means you can fasten them to your keys for safekeeping. This is something you might consider doing, as the case could be easy to misplace.

And, of course, the earbuds inside the case are also very small. Once in place, they’ll feel secure, but the risk is that you’ll fumble the tiny buds while putting them in and drop them or otherwise. Still, if you’re looking for something to fit smaller ears, the JBuds Mini could be a great option.

Although the buds are small, they still pack in decent battery life. The JBuds Mini delivers up to six hours of playback on the buds, with another two full charges from the carry case. Of course, you also get all the other standard earbud features, such as touch sensors and a USB-C charging port.

JLab’s JBuds Mini is launching in Q3 2023 and will retail for $39.99.

JLab Launches New Epic Lab Edition True Wireless Earbuds

Also debuting alongside the JBuds Mini at CES 2023 were JLab’s new Epic Lab Edition true wireless earbuds. The new Epic Lab Edition buds become the company’s first to use a hybrid dual-driver design to boost audio quality.

The zinc alloy brushed case is the first thing you notice with these earbuds. It’s weighty, feels well-made, and looks like a top-quality piece of hardware. The case has a rubberized bottom to protect the case and stop it from sliding around on smooth services, which should help protect against accidental falls.

While the case promises quality, the Epic Lab Edition earbuds themselves are a little plain, featuring the JLab logo on the otherwise all-black plastic casing.

These are in-ear buds without a stem, the casing housing the 10mm dynamic driver and additional Knowles balanced armature driver. We’ve previously seen hybrid driver systems on Gravastar’s Sirius Pro earbuds, and they work well in that configuration to deliver additional clarity and overall audio quality. Given the similarities in design, the Epic Lab Edition earbuds should deliver to similar levels—or better!

Interestingly, the Epic Lab Edition comes with an additional USB-C 2.4GHz dongle. It’s a handy extra that will make connecting to the earbuds with 2.4GHz wireless a simple process whether using your computer, laptop, and, most handily of all, your smartphone.

In terms of battery life, the Epic Lab Edition buds deliver up to 12 hours of playback with ANC switched off, falling to 10 hours with ANC switched on. It’s a very good overall level of playback, and with up to 54 hours of additional charge in the carry case, you’ll be able to keep the music playing all day long.

Like the JBuds Mini, the JLab Epic Lab Edition earbuds are also launching in Q3 2023 and will retail for $199.99.

JLab Bolsters Extensive Audio Lineup at CES 2023

JLab’s CES 2023 has been a busy, product-release-filled few days. The addition of the JBuds Mini is an interesting step, and the tiny size of the buds should appeal to a wide range of potential users.
