You will not receive a push notification when someone takes a screenshot of your BeReal post. If you take a screenshot, the user will not be sent a notification. However, you can see if someone screenshotted your BeReal post by viewing the post itself.
When you open the app, there will be a small screenshot icon on the corner of your post if someone did screenshot it. So yes, users can tell if you took a screenshot of their post.
This is a bit different from apps like Snapchat that send a banner notification to your phone when someone takes a screenshot of your post.
How Can You See Who Screenshot Your BeReal?
If you notice the screenshot icon on your BeReal, you can easily find out which of your friends took the screenshot by following these steps:
- Tap the Screenshot icon in the corner of your post
- Share your BeReal to any of the available platforms
- BeReal will reveal the user who took a screenshot
Keep in mind that this means other users can also tell when you screenshot their posts.
There is currently no way to prevent users from screenshotting your posts, so be careful of who you friend and what you share on the platform.
Why Does BeReal Notify You About Screenshots?
Knowing if your post is being saved and possibly shared helps maintain users’ safety and privacy on the platform. It also may prevent users from screenshotting if they know they will be caught.
