Acer Launches Impressive New Swift Go and Predator Helios Laptops at CES 2023

Acer is renowned for its extensive range of laptops and monitors, and its CES 2023 announcement ticked many of the boxes you’d expect. Acer is launching new Predator and Nitro gaming laptops and new Swift laptops—including the all-new Swift Go range, featuring Intel 13th-Gen processors.
So, what’s new from Acer at CES 2023?
Acer Swift Go 16 and Swift Go 14
Acer’s Swift laptop range delivers slimline, compact devices that don’t break the balance. The new Acer Swift Go 16 and Swift Go 14 carry on that tradition with slimline bezels, lightweight constructions, and, best of all, Intel 13th-Gen CPUs.
Furthermore, the new Swift Go 14 and Swift Go 14 also feature upgraded OLED displays, which should make both options great for any creative endeavors, or just for watching a film.
The Go 16 includes an impressive 16-inch, 3.2K OLED display with a 3200×2000 resolution and 120 Hz refresh rate, while the Go 14 has a slightly smaller 14-inch, 2.8K OLED display with a 2880×1800 resolution and a 90Hz refresh rate.
Aside from the obvious draw of a high-quality screen, Acer has switched the new Swift Go laptops to use Intel 13th-Gen processors exclusively. Previously, the Swift line was available with AMD’s Ryzen mobile processors, but its 2023 models will now use Intel silicon exclusively. Plus, both models support up to 16GB RAM with a 2TB PCIe Gen 4 SSD.
Another thing to note about the new Swift Go range is the focus on workers and productivity. Acer is building the Swift range with productivity in mind, and it’s great to see an impressive 1440p integrated webcam on both new models. Along with this, each model includes USB Type-C ports, HDMI 2.1, and a MicroSD reader.
The Swift Go 16 is launching in June 2023, starting at $799, while the Swift Go 14 will launch slightly earlier in May 2023, starting at $849.
Acer Predator Helios 16 and Predator Helios 18
Now, Acer is also well known for its gaming laptops, and the new Predator Helios 16 and Predator Helios 18 look like absolute beasts. These will certainly pique your interest if you are looking for a new gaming laptop.
The Acer Predator Helios 18 is Acer’s first 18-inch gaming laptop, powered by Intel’s 13th-Gen Core i9 HX (or Core i7 HX) processor, with a hefty Nvidia GeForce RTX 4080 mobile GPU. Combined with up to 32GB RAM, it’s clear the Predator Helios 18 is more than just a gaming laptop; it’s an outright desktop replacement.
You’ll find the 18-inch screen available in three configurations: WUXGA (1920×1080) at 165Hz, WQXGA (2560×1600) at 165Hz or 240Hz (the higher refresh rate could be useful for fast-paced gaming), and AUO’s superfast 250Hz Mini-LED display. The latter is set to provide one of the best gaming laptop screens on the market, and despite its relatively enormous size, it should look absolutely sublime.
Now, obviously, 18 inches is massive, so this is hardly a laptop you’ll be lugging around for work purposes. But given its impressive specs, integrated RGB, and all-new 5th-Gen AeroBlade cooling, the Predator Helios 18 could be the device that fully launches 18-inch gaming laptops to a wider audience.
However, these behemoth gaming laptops won’t come cheap. The Predator Helios 16 launches in March 2023, starting at $1,649, and the Predator Helios 18 launches in April 2023, starting at $1,699.
Acer’s New Laptop Ranges Tick All the Boxes
The Swift Go and Predator Helios were undoubtedly the stars of Acer’s 2023 laptop lineup, and it’ll be interesting to see how these devices stand up to their impressive specs once they launch later in 2023.
