Where to Watch ‘The Witcher’ Season 3, Part 2 (and What You Should Know About It)
Reading Time: 2 minutesThe popular series is wrapping up its third season before introducing its new star.
After two and a half seasons, Geralt of Rivia (Henry Cavill) is returning for the second part of The Witcher‘s third season. Season 3 of The Witcher had been broken into two parts: Part one included five episodes and aired on June 29, and part two will drop the season’s final three episodes on Thursday, July 27. Three episodes will feel over before you know it, but there are more to come—the series has been renewed for a fourth season. A specific release date for Season 4 hasn’t been confirmed as of yet, though, and it’ll be without Henry Cavill, who played the lead role for the first three seasons.
Why is Henry Cavill leaving The Witcher?
It’s not exactly clear, but if you want to speculate, it’s known that Cavill is a huge fan of the source material for The Witcher and expressed wanting Geralt of Rivia to be a more fleshed-out character. With that in mind, the easiest answer is probably ‘creative differences.’ Liam Hemsworth will be taking over as Geralt in Season 4, as Cavill explained in his public statement about leaving the show:
My journey as Geralt of Rivia has been filled with both monsters and adventures, and alas, I will be laying down my medallion and my swords for Season 4. In my stead, the fantastic Mr. Liam Hemsworth will be taking up the mantle of the White Wolf. As with the greatest of literary characters, I pass the torch with reverence for the time spent embodying Geralt and enthusiasm to see Liam’s take on this most fascinating and nuanced of men. Liam, good sir, this character has such a wonderful depth to him, enjoy diving in and seeing what you can find.
What book is The Witcher based on?
The Witcher is based on eight books, actually, by Polish author Andrzej Sapkowski. The Witcher is also a video game series developed by CD Projekt RED. There have been three main Witcher video games—the third installment being its most popular—and several spin-offs.
Where to stream The Witcher
All three seasons of The Witcher are on exclusively on Netflix, which is getting more expensive these days.
