What’s New on Disney+ in August 2022
Reading Time: 2 minutesShe-Hulk and the non-Tim Allen Buzz Lightyear in one month? Disney is canceled!
Dang, Disney+. I know I made fun of you last month for not premiering anything good, but a new Marvel show, a new Star Wars show, a major Pixar premiere, and the third season of Bluey, all in one month? I must have hit a nerve.

Hot on the heels of Ms. Marvel comes She-Hulk: Attorney at Law (Aug. 17), another dispatch from the lighter side of the Marvel Streaming Universe, or whatever we’re calling this made-for-TV offshoot of the MCU. Orphan Black‘s Tatiana Maslany stars as the big green gal, aka Jennifer Walters, who must balance her superhero career with her billable hours as a lawyer specializing in cases involving super humans.
The trailer caught some flack for the dodgy special effects, but I’d rather concentrate on the fact that it looks like the show—created by Rick & Morty alum Jessica Gao—will maintain the rom-com spirit of recent runs on the comic from writers Charles Soule and Dan Slott.
Oops, Andor has been delayed until Sept. 21
Not to be outdone, Disney’s other big franchise also has a new show: Andor, a prequel to the, uh, Star Wars: A New Hope prequel Rogue One following the early adventures of titular morally-conflicted rebel. Diego Luna reprises his role from the movie alongside Genevieve O’Reilly as Mon Mothma—and surely no other actress whose scenes were mostly deleted (in her case, from the theatrical cut of Revenge of the Sith) has ever stretched out a role quite so successfully.

On Aug. 1 Disney released a new trailer for Andor—good!—and a new release date, Sept. 21—bad!
Pixar flop Lightyear—you remember, that spinoff of a movie about toys that somehow became a Fox News talking point—is somehow already dropping on the service on Aug. 3. It will no doubt fare better on streaming than it did in theaters, both with kids and their grownups—but I’d wager more of the latter are excited about the third season of Bluey (Aug. 10), which pretends to be for little children but is actually about teaching you to be a better parent.
Here’s everything else coming to Disney+ in August, as if all of that hasn’t already earned your $7.99.
