What Is Apple Music Sing? A Karaoke Mode for Apple Music Users
Reading Time: 2 minutesWe all love to sing our hearts out, and Apple knows this. That’s why the company is introducing Apple Music Sing.
Out of the blue, Apple announced the addition of a karaoke mode to Apple Music, dubbed ‘Apple Music Sing.’ This feature is coming to all Apple Music subscribers worldwide in the second part of December 2022 on iPhone, iPad, or Apple TV.
You can sing along to your favorite songs with adjustable vocals and real-time lyrics. Here is everything you need to know about Apple Music Sing.
What Is Apple Music Sing?
Apple Music Sing is an Apple Music feature that allows you to sing along to your favorite songs with real-time lyrics and adjust the vocals’ volume. It uses an on-device machine-learning algorithm that separates vocals and the background music in real time.
When playing a song, you’ll need to open the lyrics and tap on the Mic/Karaoke button to access the volume slider for vocals. Note that it doesn’t entirely remove the vocals but lets you set it to the lowest possible volume.
Apple Music Sing is launching with iOS 16.2 later in December 2022. It will be available to compatible iPhones, iPads, and Apple TVs. Unfortunately, Apple Music Sing isn’t available for Apple Music Voice plan subscribers, so you’ll need to decide which Apple Music plan is the best for you if you want to use this feature. Moreover, Apple Music Sing isn’t available on Mac at the time of writing.
What You Get With Apple Music Sing
There’s more to Apple Music Sing than meets the eye. Here are all the other available features:
- Adjustable vocals: It allows you to control the volume of the song’s vocals. As a result, you can choose to sing along with your favorite artist.
- Real-time lyrics: The lyrics animate in real-time following the vocal’s rhythm.
- Background vocals: Vocal lines you sing will animate separately from the artist’s vocals for you to get the timing right when you’re singing.
- Duet view: If multiple artists are in the song, they show up on opposite sides of the screen, making it easy to sing multi-artist tracks.
Alongside Apple Music Sing, Apple Music is also launching a suite of 50 dedicated playlists that go well with Apple Music Sing.
Apple Is Taking the Lead With Apple Music Sing
Spotify has always had a lyrics feature you can use in the apps, but it wasn’t until late 2021 that the company launched real-time lyrics. There were rumors that Spotify was working on a karaoke feature that could rate your vocals.
However, Apple went ahead and launched its version early. As a result, many Spotify subscribers might switch to Apple Music. Apart from Spotify, this feature also impacts some of the best Karaoke apps solely relying on karaoke.
Apple Music Sing is more like an extension of the existing lyrics experience on Apple Music. In 2022, Apple hiked the prices of Apple Music, Apple TV+, and Apple One, so the company needs to add value to all its subscriptions if it wants to keep its subscriber count. Fortunately, Apple Music Sing might do the trick.
Get Ready to Sing Your Heart Out With Apple Music Sing
Apple Music Sing will be available to all Apple Music subscribers, adding more value to your subscription. While not all subscriptions will be able to use this feature, Apple Music Sing is still a great addition to Apple Music that’ll help users make the most out of their subscription.
