These Are All the Names VASCO Can Call You in ‘Starfield’ (and Some Are Pretty NSFW)

From ‘Aaron’ to ‘Assface,’ Starfield’s VASCO can call you a lot.

Starfield is one of this year’s biggest titles, and is the first new IP to come from Bethesda Game Studios in 25 years. When its director calls the game ‘Skyrim in space,’ you know you’re in for a good time.

But it’s not just the interstellar nature of the game that makes it feel so large and alive: True to form, Bethesda has made sure Starfield players feel totally immersed in the game. Part of that immersion comes from your robot friend VASCO, who can actually call you by your real name, as long as it’s on the list of over 1,000 available options.

What names can VASCO call you?

Rock Paper Shotgun put together a full list of the 1,011 names Bethesda recorded for VASCO to say out loud. It’s a long list, and there’s a decent chance your name is on there. I have my choice, for example, between Jake or Jacob, which is a nice change of pace, since souvenir shops often carry neither option for me.

Of course, there are well more than 1,011 names in this world, so it’s entirely possible Starfield doesn’t have yours here. The game has Brandon and Brayden but no Brendan, for example, as well as Laura but no Lara. However, there are eight iterations of Robert (Rob, Robb, Robert, Roberts, Bob, Bobbi, Bobbie, Bobby), so at least all the Roberts out there have a name to go by.

NSFW or otherwise funny Starfield names you can make VASCO say

While you shouldn’t necessarily be offended that Bethesda left your name off the list, it might sting when you learn what did make the cut. The company added a series of NSFW, goofy, or otherwise funny names to the mix, and they’re a treat. (Can you tell there are some Mad Max fans over at Bethesda?)
