Reddit just made some big updates to its search function

Reddit has launched a slew of updates to its search functionality.
The app broke down the latest additions, which include a media search tab, a media search within subreddits, and accessibility features, in a blog post on Wednesday.
The media search updates are essentially split into two parts: a media tab on the search results page in the iOS and Android apps that allows users to browse media in one place (similar to Google’s image results), and a media search function within the subreddits themselves.
Accessibility, meanwhile, has been improved across search. Search results page posts and comments are now screen reader compatible. ‘We’re adding labels, roles/traits, values, and states to all elements on these pages to help redditors discover content and take action,’ reads the blog post. ‘If a redditor uses a screen reader, they can hear the actions available and the results returned on these tabs.’
Elsewhere, Reddit also flagged that it’s simplified the design of the search results page and added tabs for community and community search results.
This latest change to search is one of several updates Reddit has made in recent weeks. The site recently improved its experience for users who aren’t logged in, as well as announcing an overhaul to its award system that will give Redditors the opportunity to earn real money from posts.
