Reddit just got better for people who aren’t logged in

Sometimes you Google something and Reddit gives you the best result. That just became slightly less annoying.
The folks who run Reddit announced in a blog post that the site experience on desktop and mobile (browser, not app) has been updated for folks who visit Reddit without being logged into an account. Some of the changes include:
-
Improved search function that prioritizes posts over everything else on mobile
-
A new sticky (meaning it scrolls independently of the rest of the page) sidebar on the right side on desktop that showcases popular Reddit communities
-
A sticky sidebar on the right side of the community page shows info like user count and rules
These are all pretty minor changes by themselves, but the cumulative effect could (and should) be a smoother experience for people who just want to read Reddit, not write on Reddit. Sometimes you just need to know how to fix a problem with your laptop or how to get past a hard section in a video game. You didn’t need to log in to do that before, but now it’s even less necessary.
Now they just need to get rid of the annoying pop up on mobile Reddit that asks you to install the app.
