Netflix could soon allow you to use your phone to control games on your TV

Sure, Netflix is primarily a movie and TV streaming service now, but it could be your next gaming platform, too.
According to reports from Bloomberg as well as MacRumors contributor Steve Moser, Netflix could soon let players play games on their TVs using their phones as a controller. It could be part of Netflix’s mission to find a foothold in the games business, something it’s been slowly doing over the last couple of years.
Right now, the only evidence we have is a few lines of code within the Netflix app that suggest people can connect their phones to their TVs or streaming devices for gameplay. If you weren’t aware, Netflix subscribers have access to more than 50 games they can play for free, but only on mobile devices. You have to download the game as a separate app and log in with your Netflix info to play.
These aren’t necessarily cheap tie-in games for Netflix properties, either. One of the most prominent Netflix mobile games is Into the Breach, a popular and beloved tactical strategy game that originally came out in 2018.
If you were thinking about canceling Netflix because New Girl left, maybe games could be a good reason to stick around.
