How to Get Kecleon in Pokémon Go? (Quick Guide)
Reading Time: 2 minutesCatching Kecleon is simple: Find a PokeStop that doesn’t work because of Kecleon. Tap the red pattern on Kecleon’s belly and make it let go of the stop. That’s it; you can throw a Pokeball at it now. Sounds confusing? Here’s the step-by-step simplified gui
Niantic has finally decided to add Pokémon #352, Kecleon, to your Pokédex.
With the Hoenn Tour right around the corner, having Kecleon in Pokémon Go seemed inevitable.
But how do you get it?
Unlike new Season 9 additions like Vivillon, catching Kecleon is straightforward.
Let me walk you through the process real quick.
How Do You Catch Kecleon?
Kecleon attaches to PokéStops. To get it, tap on the red zigzag pattern on its torso and make him let go of the stop. After that, it will spawn on the overworld map as a normal Pokémon, which you can catch with any Pokéball.
The PokéStop that has Kecleon on it is not interactable. Spinning such stops returns a message that says, ‘There’s an invisible obstacle in your way. It’s preventing you from collecting items.’
That’s a sign you’ve got a Kecleon on your hand.
How Likely Is It to Encounter Kecleon?
Kecleon shows up on random PokéStops. But you’re likely to see one at every 15 to 20 stops.
To increase your chances of finding Kecleons, tap on every PokéStop nearby and look for the ones with a semi-invisible, camouflaged silhouette of Kecleon.
Should You Visit Every PokéStop to Find Kecleon?
Technically, you can spot Kecleons remotely. But you have to catch them in person.
You don’t have to visit every PokéStop to look for Kecleon. If there’s a Kecleon nearby, you’ll be able to see it by simply opening the stop.
But you must be in the proximity of the PokéStop to spawn the Kecleon.
What Makes Kecleon Special?
Kecleon is the last Pokémon from the Hoenn region. And players have been waiting for this creature since 2017 to complete their Hoenn dex. It’s a special addition to the game as it marks the end of an era—Hoenn Pokémon hunt.
Is Kecleon a Good Pokémon?
With a max CP of 2314, Kecleon is not a good Pokémon for the Go Battle Leagues and PvP. But you need it to complete your Pokédex. So, consider Kecleon a good collector item—not a battle Pokémon.
Can You Catch a Shiny Kecleon?
Like Vivillon, the other new addition to Pokémon Go, Kecleon currently has no Shiny form. It doesn’t evolve, either. The only type you can get is the base Kecleon, the green one.
Will Kecleon Be Available After the Chespin Community Day?
It’s unclear whether Kecleon will normally spawn on the map after the January community day, Chespin. So, players speculate if it’s going to show up at random PokéStops—somewhat like Gimmighoul—or if it will follow other Normal-Types’ spawn patterns.
Kecleon’s Pokédex Description
Also called Color Swap Pokémon, Kecleon is capable of changing its body color at will to blend in with its surroundings. There’s one exception—this Pokémon can’t change the zigzag pattern on its belly.
