How to Change the Call Screen Background for Incoming Calls on Your Samsung Phone

By default, your Samsung phone shows you a video preset of moving gradient colors on the call screen when you receive an incoming call. But unknown to many, you can actually customize the call background to show any photo or video from your gallery.

How to Set a Custom Call Background on a Samsung Phone
You might want to customize your call screen background for the same reason that you customize your Home screen wallpaper: to make it look more beautiful.
Follow the steps below to do so:
- Open the Phone app, tap the three-dots menu, and select Settings.
- Go to Call background > Background. You’ll see some video presets to choose from that you might want to consider.
- Tap the + icon and select your desired photo or video from the gallery.
- If you’ve selected a video longer than 15 seconds, you’ll need to trim it by tapping the Trim button (the scissors icon), and then hit Done.
- You can choose to use the audio in your video as the new call ringtone by toggling on Use video sound as ringtone. We don’t recommend turning this on since the audio in your video might not give the same impression as an actual caller ringtone which could lead you to miss calls.
- Tap Set as call background to finish.
The background image or video you set here will be applied to all contacts. If you want to set custom call backgrounds for each contact, which you can do if you’ve upgraded to One UI 5, follow the steps below:
- Open the Contacts app and select a contact.
- Tap Edit > View more > Call background > Background.
- Tap the + icon and select your desired photo or video from the gallery.
- Tap Set as call background to finish.
