1) SQUISHMALLOWS:
Squishmallows are immensely popular and may have become the best inanimate companion for those that missed a hug during the pandemic. They started as a TikTok sensation which has now driven sales to incredible heights and garnered fans like Lady Gaga and Kim Kardashian. They are immensely soft, like the best marshmallow, and can be a sleeping partner, a cuddle cushion, a playmate, a portable pillow or even a real friend with its own bio.
The original seven-and-a-half inch characters have the cutest of faces, with a tropical range of wildlife from Gordon the Shark to Pax the Hamster. There is a myriad of exotic colours, creatures and personalities that can fit with your mood. At the last count, there were 3,000 overall to choose from. Half the fun is the collectability of these popular pieces of plush polyester that are all machine washable too. They touch upon a need both in children and in adults.
2) CHICKEN vs HOT DOG; FUN FAMILY GAME: Christmas day fatigue kicks in heavily after the King’s Speech as the 25th often feels like three days of excitement, eating and entertainment all wrapped into one. To get back on form before nodding off requires a game with no thinking, no real rule absorption and just a mountain of fun. Chicken versus Hotdog provides exactly that.

It’s a little bit like a jungle version of Jenga but with sand, which is kinetic ensuring no sticky mess and a totally dry experience.

It’s a basic premise for a laugh but it will hit the spot for the age range. The music is appealing and light giving out the kind of loop that won’t drill through your head or prevent a good rest in bed. She also comes with a resplendent pair of sunglasses and a disco ball. This kind of toy passes the fun- to-look-at test and there’s enough playability to get the all the clear from a price point too.
